Mandy Lion @Count’s Vampd 5/16/14

Killer one off show gearing up for a short tour and before Rocklahoma ,the mysterious Mandy Lion of World War Three fame burned up the stage at Count’s Vampd in Las Vegas. I saw this amazing vocalist many years ago with World War Three with Vinnie Appice, Jimmy Bain at Calamity Jane’s in the early 90’s and then few years later I saw Mandy on the Wicked Alliance tour with Jake E Lee at Shark Club. Again he opened for Anthrax and Maiden around in the 90’s when I saw him a third time. Mandy is the creator of extreme power vocals and is truly a “Lion” onstage, with his growling and dark sexuality. The show at Vampd was up close and personal with Mandy right in our faces singing to the people up front. His young side kick guitarist Toni Aleman is extremely talented and full of energy. This night he had drummer Les Warner beating the skins and bassist Dan McNay, rounding out the band. They tore into a kick ass set of oldies and some new music, but my faves were “Time for Terror” and “Love You to Death” which when played live brought me back to the first time I ever saw Mandy, all decked out in leather and jet black hair flying in front of a fan with the ever present black hat. Mandy Lion is a force to be reckoned with with a voice that will send chills down your spine and give you goosebumps.
